About Us

Who Are We?

The Yonge Corridor Condominium Association (YCCA) is an association of condo corporations on and around Yonge Street in North York. Our member condos run from Highway 401 north to Steeles Avenue and from  Greenview Ave./Beecroft Rd. on the west to Kenneth Ave. on the east. With over 100 existing condominium buildings and 30 new ones currently in various phases of planning and construction, our association represents over 10,000 residents in the highest density condominium centre in Canada.

This coverage area closely matches that of the “Toronto: North York Urban GrowthCentre,” one of five centres designated by the Province of Ontario within the boundaries of the Greater Toronto Area for urban intensification. We participate in the planning of this growth as much as possible.

Our Goals and Mission

We strive to assist member corporations to improve the quality of life specifically of condominium dwellers in the area and enhance condominium property values in a strategic and sustainable way.

We facilitate the exchange of ideas and best practices among members and represent the concerns of condo owners and residents to various levels of government in a non-partisan way so as to improve the quality of municipal services available in our area.

Current Activities

Many challenges confront local condo owners and residents such as traffic congestion and noise, school capacity, park availability, pedestrian safety, and recreational facilities. In 2000, several boards of directors in our area came to the conclusion that our effectiveness lies in the ability to speak with a strong, single voice concerning these common needs.

As membership has grown, the association has taken on a variety of issues and activities, conducting member workshops, building relationships and advocating on our behalf with all levels of government, liaising with local police and fire departments, and participating in local land use planning.

We focus on issues of concern to condo Boards and Residents such as:

    • Building and operational matters
    • Traffic, public safety and security, development pressures and infrastructure concerns
    • How to save money!
    • Creating communities to share experience
    • Long-range planning and Reserve Fund considerations

We have continuing success  on issues affecting the Yonge Corridor specifically such as:

    • The 401 Interchange and lack of progress in dealing with traffic congestion
    • Excessive vehicular noise and
    • Lack of infrastructure to support the growing condo population

We currently have several active committees and initiatives: a Community Building Network, an Advocacy Committee, and a group focused on Climate Action.

If you are interested in these topics or would like to discuss other possible initiatives you can access these from the Members page.
